If you're referred to hospital or other NHS premises for specialist NHS treatment or diagnostic tests by a doctor, dentist or another primary care health professional, you may be able to claim a refund of reasonable travel costs under the Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme (HTCS). Our service
Cardiac rehabilitation encourages people affected by cardiac disease to achieve and maintain good physical and psychological health. The service offers an 8-week intensive cardiac rehabilitation programme delivered by a multidisciplinary team.
Each course consists of a pre-course assessment, six consecutive sessions and a final discharge assessment.
Topics covered include:
- The benefits of exercise
- The heart – how it works
- Medication and treatments
- Stress and relaxation
- Further exercise in the community
- Risk factors for heart disease
- Healthy eating
We can also offer a home-based program via telephone to those unable to attend a group venue.
Who we care for
Patients with heart failure or those who have had a myocardial infarction, revascularisation or cardiac surgery.
Referrals
Referral is via cardiac consultant or other health professional.
