NCH&C Charitable Fund

PBL Christmas 2

The charity enhances patient care through activities in in-patient hospitals and local clinics, through benefiting patients and their families and carers being treated at home, and through preventative information to empower people to avoid further treatment or reduce their risk of health problems.

We provide activities that are above and beyond those funded by the NHS, and in doing so make a genuine difference for patients, families, carers and the staff who look after them.

Our broad remit is for funds to be used for public benefit of NHS patients where the Trust provides a service:

  • Benefit of patients of the Trust to assist in recovery from or management of illness
  • Provision and enhancement of patient therapies
  • Social functions for patients
  • Training and support of Trust staff that benefits patients (and sits outside regular Trust funding)
  • Advancement of education

Some donors choose to designate their donation to a specific ward or service, and we will always use the funds where the need is greatest for our patients.

Kelling Hospital Gardens

Here is an example of some of the amazing things that charity funds have delivered:

  • £590 - purchase and install blinds for a patient and family lounge at Caroline House
  • £700 - battery operated fans to help COPD patients manage their breathing without the need for additional mediation
  • £2,000 – Christmas gifts and additional food items for all in-patients resident in Trust hospitals over the festive season
  • £3,600 - provide mental health first aider training for 120 members of staff across the Trust
  • £3,650 - purchase plants tools and garden items for patient gardens across the Trust
  • £160,000 - build a garden room and provide outdoor space for patients and families at Dereham Hospital

Involve your colleagues

Organise a dress down day, bake some cakes, hold a seasonal sweepstake or give up sugar for a month!

Organise your own event

Get your friends together and organise a dinner, auction or a quiz night in your local pub.

Leave a gift in your will

Once you’ve looked after your family and friends, please consider remembering the hospital charity in your will. You don’t have to be wealthy to leave a worthwhile gift. Any gift, of whatever size, is precious to us – it really will make a difference to our patients now and in the future.

Give a gift in memory

We understand that losing a loved one is a very difficult time, but making a positive difference to celebrate someone’s life can be a real comfort. By making a donation to NCH&C NHS Trust Charitable Fund you will be helping to make the experience a better one for patients, their families, visitors and staff.

You might like to request donations at a loved one’s funeral, as an alternative to flowers. Please speak to a family member or the funeral director to let them know you would like to support us and specify if you would like your gift to benefit a particular ward or department, so we can ensure we fulfil your wishes.

You can also make a Gift in Memory today by donating through our online page by clicking here Make a donation using Virgin Money Giving or post your donation to: Carol Plunkett, Room G.28, Woodlands House, Norwich Community Hospital, Bowthorpe Road, Norwich, Norfolk, NR2 3TU

Please remember to let us know the name of the person you are giving in memory of, and your own name and contact details so we can write to thank you for your donation.

We have lots of ideas for how you can support us, so please do get in touch at to find out more.

Anything that you decide to do will help us to achieve so much more across the county of Norfolk for our patients, families, visitors and staff – so thank you
